White Sandwich Bread (With Breadmaker)

9.30.2016

It's almost been a year since we've bought a loaf of bread...yeah, homemade is just that good. I've tried a bunch of different recipes and this one is just hard to beat.

It's incredibly humid here in Houston so bread-making without a breadmaker is kind of impossible (maybe not impossible but it can be very difficult!) and this machine has been so good to me so I'd recommend it to everyone! If you live in an area where the air is dryer, you may enjoy making bread by hand, but it does require much more of your time so it's up to you which way you go.

Recently, I've been storing bread slices in the freezer and it has made this whole homemade bread thing so much easier! We no longer have to finish the loaf within two days (stored in the pantry); Instead, it can be eaten throughout the week and last for two months! So here's the recipe!

Ingredients

•1 1/8cups warm water
•2Tbsp coconut butter
•1tsp salt
•1 1/2tsp active dry yeast

Directions
1.) Add ingredients into bread pan in the order listed and make sure the yeast does not come in contact with the water yet.
2.) Select 1.5lb loaf size, Choose the crust color, select the basic/white function on bread maker, then press Start.
3.) The dough will go through a process like this: Knead, Rest, Knead, Rise, Bake. When the dough has finished rising, remove the kneading paddle or the bottom of the loaf will break when removing the baked loaf. If you'd like the loaf to have that heart-shape at the top, slice the top with a sharp knife.
4.) After the bread is done(my machine takes 3hrs and 18mins total)remove the pan with pot holders, flip upside-down onto a cooling rack, and shake lightly to remove the loaf.
5.) Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing

Yield: 1.5lb loaf (approx. 2-14 slices)
Store leftovers in the pantry for up to 2 days or store in the freezer for 2 months. To store in freezer, place slices on a baking sheet and freeze for 1 hour. Then transfer to a freezer-safe container. To reheat, just thaw at room temperature or additionally you can microwave for 5 seconds. Enjoy!
