Have you ever wanted something so bad that it hurt? That's exactly how I feel everyday when I think about owning my own homestead. Anytime I see a cow, garden, or anything in between, my heart tugs at my chest and I can't help but feel like that's where I need to be.
God's will & timing are everything though...We all need to remember that. If I attempted to build up our home using my own will power, I'd make a fool of myself. Not only would I struggle, but my efforts would be in vain. God is the only one who can see the future. Any present disappointments could actually protect me from HUGE mistakes later down the road. I also need to accept that it's possible the Lord's will isn't what I think it is. He instills passions within us and that's what makes us unique but He may have a different vision for you.
Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart." When I used to read this I thought it meant, if you are a good enough Christian, God will grant you what you want. Now I have come to realize that it means if you follow Him and delight in Him, your life will begin to align with His will; thus fulfilling your happiness. I've learned that contentment in every stage of life is the key to true happiness because the joy is in the journey, right?
